Kula yoga and Christy Burnette with Conscious Community Yoga are partnering together to offer our second 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. Finishing this course is the minimum requirement, acknowledged by Yoga Alliance, needed for the teaching yoga.
Whether you want to deepen your own knowledge and yoga practice or possibly share your passion of yoga with others, this course will be profound and life-changing.
I feel like I have grown so much more into a deeper mental and spiritual understanding than I had ever thought possible, and I am excited because I know that this is only the beginning. If you are willing to be open and honest with yourself this YTT will absolutely change your life.

// Course Requirements
• Session attendance- 8 weekends over 4 months
• A daily yoga practice- students keep record of their home practice
• Yoga class attendance- classes with Kula Yoga are free during training
• Tests- take three comprehensive tests and complete the teaching practicum on the final weekend
• Journaling- self-study is an integral part of the yoga experience
• 20 hours of electives- at Kula yoga or other studios or approved workshops (additional cost and will vary per person)
• Yoga class observations- 10 hours
• Yoga teacher assisting- 10 hours
This program explores the world of yoga and encourages each yogi to find their own unique voice, style and focus area. Learn asana, meditation, philosophy, pranayama, alignment, sequencing, Sanskrit, yoga anatomy, and more!
First 50 hours:
Immersion (practice, pranayama, styles of yoga, history, spiritual development, basic anatomy, and waking up your true nature)
Last 150 hours:
Go deeper and awaken the teacher (advanced posturing, sequencing, language, assisting/adjusting, how to promote, setting a plan for teaching, finding clarity and purpose as a yoga teacher)
$400 initial non-refundable deposit to hold spot

// About Christy Burnette
As a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500) and Certified Yoga Therapist, Christy Burnette travels nation-wide offering in-depth Yoga-Alliance approved 200 and 300-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings, Yoga Therapy Trainings, and workshops.
With longtime studies in Iyengar and Anusara yoga, she brings 30 years of teaching experience, experimentation, and creativity to her ever-evolving style of teaching. Christy obtained her Anusara Yoga Certification in 2000 and was most recently recognized for her work as a yoga therapist by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. (IAYT)
Conscious Community Yoga, the nonprofit Christy founded in 2015, brings yoga to the Native American communities of Gila River and Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community. Christy teaches regular classes around the valley including Yoga for Fall Prevention (collaborative efforts with SRPMIC), Elders-based classes, classes focused on addiction recovery, as well as classes offered in prisons.
Christy partners with InBody Yoga Academy of Salt Lake City, Utah as a lead trainer in the Advanced Yoga Therapy program, as well as Sundance Yoga in Houston, Texas. Darling Yoga of Overland Park, Kansas has hosted Christy’s 200-hour YTT since 2010 and most recently have added a 300-hour YTT.
Her private yoga offerings are directed towards Yoga as Therapy for sports enthusiasts of all levels and modalities. Her approach is based on strong understanding of body movement and alignment, which is strengthened by her passion in offering deep physical and emotional support for her students.

This YTT is one of the best choices I have ever made as far as furthering my knowledge goes. Not only did I gain a great amount of information about yoga, but I also gained a great amount of knowledge about myself. I felt really good about where I was spiritually and mentally when I came into this teacher training, but looking back now that graduation is upon us, I feel like I have grown so much more into a deeper mental and spiritual understanding than I had ever thought possible, and I am excited because I know that this is only the beginning. If you are willing to be open and honest with yourself this YTT will absolutely change your life. Christy and Dianne are there for their students 110 % along the way, as long as you are putting in the work. I am so very grateful to have trained with these ladies and look forward to the YTT 300 program.
Overall, the best way to explain the change would be to say that my practice has deepened greatly. I’ve practiced yoga on and off for the last 20 years, but it’s only been through this intense period of study that I fully understand how mind, body and spirit all come together – not only during class but in daily life, too. This has been a time of real self-reflection for me, and I’m grateful for having been through this experience.
Not only has my practice changed, but my life has changed. There is a new level of trust in myself, and in the chaos of life. I can’t go a day without incorporating some sort of an asana practice and I’ve come back to other limbs of my yogic practice that I enjoyed previously. I am meditating, chanting, singing, finding inspirational readings and connecting with my higher self. I have lost 20 pounds since we started in August and I attribute this to these practices and the sense of self that the ongoing practice of yoga provides. I am living my practice and it has reshaped my physical and mental self. I know I am not as comfortable with leading an asana practice as I’d like to be. I will gain more confidence as I continue my own practice and take other classes. When we were asked to observe and assist, I got those items checked off my list as soon as possible. I didn’t want those items to be what “kept me” from earning my certification. I look forward to assisting and observing with a keener eye and working closely with a mentor now that I’ve come this far. I welcome the journey and this life-long learning process as a yoga teacher. Yep, I said it, although it still feels a little awkward.
