CANCELED: Life After Loss: A Healing Workshop

A reschedule in the near future is possible. We'll update here and on social media when we know more.

We have all experienced loss of different kinds and varying degrees, especially in the chaos that has been the past year. Carolyn and Debbie invite you into a safe space to work on the process of grief & loss in community.

Through 6 in person, 90-minute workshops every other week, the group will explore the different types of grief and dive deep into practical, useful strategies for coping with loss of different kinds. The first workshop will be focused an overview of the series, what to expect, the introduction of the book, and getting to know each other. The remaining 5 sessions will each focus on one of the five stages of grief, with meditation, teaching, sharing, journaling, and reflection. Sharing is optional and anything said will be kept in confidence.

The group will be reading through two books (included in the cost): - On Grief and Grieving: Finding the Meaning of Grief Through the Five Stages of Loss by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, M.D. and David Kessler - The Course of Wisdom: A Practical Workbook Honoring the Five Stages of Loss by Carin Fausett

A bonus Zoom session will be offered at the end to check-in, give space for feedback, comments, and questions, and connect with a special guest with professional experience in loss and grieving.

Let’s come together & support one another.

About the Facilitators:

I have extensive personal experience in living with grief. As my Mom said before she passed, I have more family in heaven than here. I was thrown into depression when I went into menopause, grieving the loss of something I never knew- giving birth to a child of my own. Living with Fibromyalgia, there are things I enjoy that I can no longer do and I have to live with limitations on a daily basis.

As an empath, this past year has taken a toll. I had a Reiki session and was told I have taken on so much grief in my heart from this Pandemic.

Yoga has helped me so much personally and that is why I teach. I enjoy teaching Yin, Restorative and Nidra. My passion is to help those with chronic pain and fatigue. I love being able to share my faith.

I have taken specialty trainings that include:

2 different Touch trainings Yin I & II Meditation and Nidra Sozo and Somatics Reiki level I A personal study on Yoga & Christianity (I’m starting a Trauma Sensitive Yin Training in May)

When I’m not on my mat, I’m listening to music, reading or cuddling with my dog.

After Carolyn experienced the loss of her best friend and mother in 2015 from Ovarian Cancer she decided to go deeper into her yoga practice as a way to heal. Yoga transformed her life and since then has been a beautiful way for her to work through her grieving journey.

A few years after, she very suddenly and tragically lost a best friend and again she became even more aware of the importance of yoga in her life, along with supportive people that she felt comfortable opening up to and processing with. Most recently after the loss of her Grandfather, she decided to start getting more educated by reading books and looking at resources to better understand loss and the grieving process.

Carolyn is a 500-Hour Certified Yoga Instructor with experience teaching all different types of classes. Her 200 and 300 Trainings were both Therapeutic Based and she recently completed a 60-Hour Trauma Informed Teacher Training. Lately, she has been focused on encouraging students to focus on inner work through meditation, body awareness, and other techniques to tap into the feelings and emotions that arise.

It is her intention to create a safe space where one can come to process their loss(es) in a way that feels right and supported, while gaining the strength needed to continue to live life. In this series she looks forward to bringing her compassionate heart into each session and helping each student leave with a greater understanding of how to work through the grieving process.
