We're Over Here, Cheering You On!

Happy February!

How are you? What's new? We've been pleasantly busy with Wellness Weekend last weekend (see photos below!) and adjusting to our busier lobby and larger class sizes! It's always interesting to me to see how quiet the studio is in December, when we're all busy with the holidays and just trying to make it through. Then in January, people come back in! The new year can always serve as a helpful check-in... how well am I taking care of myself? Am I where I want to be? Is this how I want to be next year? Some of us decide we want to make some changes and a fresh, shiny new year is a great opportunity to do just that! Now that we're into February, one month down, how is it going? If you've fallen away from your goals or slipped away from new habits you started a few weeks ago, you're in good company. Research shows that new habits take TIME to really become a part of our daily lives and most people try to make big, major life changes and then don't stick with them because they're too big. What to do? Come in for yoga. You're probably thinking, of course she would say that. Yup, it's no secret that I own a yoga studio. But seriously... I've been practicing yoga for about 8 years and every time 'life' gets in the way of my time on my mat, I notice I'm not eating as well, I'm less patient, more tight in my body, more easily stressed, sleeping less well, and my thoughts are more scattered. So here I am, believing SO much in this yoga that I'm dedicating most of the hours of most of my days helping, planning, teaching, mentoring, business stuff, business learning, business meetings, you get the idea. I'm not doing it for the money, darling. I just know how it helps me and I want to share that with you. If you need help finding the right class or teacher for you, we have lots of options. You can also visit our weekly schedule on our website or download the free Mindbody app. Click on each class and learn more about what the focus is, what level of yoga it serves best, and what the teacher is like. Research shows that we can change our habits when we slowly, over time, incorporate small changes to our life. 2 or 3 yoga classes a week is the minimum to feel a noticeable difference in your body, mind, and spirit. That's 3-4.5 hours a week. And then after some time, you'll notice your yoga practice begins to make its way into your day-to-day life. Maybe you're in traffic and you notice your shallow, short, frustrated breath. So you breathe deeply and arrive at your destination more calm and collected. Or maybe you're tight when you crawl into bed at night from a long day on your feet, so you you put your legs up on the wall and feel instant relief and calm, helping you sleep deeper and maybe wake more rested.
